How to Stop COVID-19 From Ruining Your Sex Life?

If you broaden your definition of sexual intimacy and get creative, you could not only continue to have a sex life but also actually improve your sex life while practicing social distancing!
Being cooped up inside because of COVID-19, also called Coronavirus, is depressing and lonely enough as it is, but for those who were previously enjoying or pursuing sexual relationships, limitations placed on physical contact with others can make things even harder.
While the virus isn't sexually transmitted per se, it can be transmitted through any kind of close contact, which definitely includes sex — in-person sex, at least.
But if you broaden your definition of sexual intimacy and get creative, you could not only continue to have a sex life but also actually improve your sex life while practicing social distancing!
Here are some ways to stay sexually active if you’re currently avoiding close contact with others due to the virus.
  1. Get Creative with Cyber Sex Cybersex can mean more than people give it credit for. It can mean masturbating together, dirty-talking to each other, or even doing a strip-tease over the video, says CalExotics resident sexologist, Dr. Jill McDevitt.
Try acting out different scenarios and using different props like toys and sexy outfits.
2. Practice Your Sexting Skills Now is the perfect time to learn how to keep things spicy over text. “Talk about what you’ve done in the past, what you want to do, and your recent sex dreams,” ASTROGLIDE’s resident sexologist Dr. Jess O’Reilly suggests. “You can use words, photos, videos, voice notes, and emojis to create an exciting sexual encounter.”
3. Write Erotic Stories If you’re feeling inspired, go beyond a simple sext and write an erotic story about an experience you and your partner have shared something you wish to try in the future, or something completely fictional.
“They don’t have to be good. The fun is in being creative and reading them out loud to each other later, which stimulates your sense of hearing at a time when the sense of touch may be off-limits,” says McDevitt.
4. Flirt via Text or Phone You don’t have to engage in full-on phone sex or sexting — a little flirtation can go a long way, especially if it’s with someone you’re still getting to know, says O’Reilly:
“When you show genuine desire and interest in them, it gives their ego a welcome stroke and sets the tone for what may be to come in the future.”
5. Eye Gaze For eye gazing, a tantric activity to help you connect with a partner, you sit facing them, look into their left eye, and breathe out as they breathe in. You can do this over video chat if you don’t want to be that physically close to someone.
“It can feel awkward at first but may lead to feelings of connection and a boost in oxytocin,” says O’Reilly.
6. Talk About Your Sex Life Even if you can’t have sex right now, you can discuss your sex life so that it’s amazing once you’re together, says McDevitt. Trying sending each other “yes/no/maybe” lists that indicate what you might be willing to try out.

7. Focus on Emotional Intimacy Talking to a partner and getting to know them better will also set the stage for great sex once you’re able to see each other, says O’Reilly.
“Conversations that allow for anticipation and exploration can help to invigorate some of the chemicals associated with new love, passion, and pleasure,” she explains. “As you discover more about your partner and peel back the layers, it can create an ongoing form of foreplay.”
You might ask them, for example, about people they admire, dreams they had as a child, and fond memories of theirs.
8. Plan Online Dates The coronavirus may give online dating a whole new meaning. If you want to keep dating without being in close contact with anyone, you can arrange to have a meal or engage in another activity together over video chat, says O’Reilly. There are even dating apps like Firstdate that are specifically set up for this.
9. Try out New Ways of Masturbating When you can’t be around others, it’s a good time to deepen your sexual connection to yourself. McDevitt suggests mindful masturbation, which means slowing down and touching yourself in ways you normally don’t.
Let go of the goal of orgasm and try to see how much sensation you can feel outside your genitals or with different types of touch on the genitals.

10. Take Advantage of Sex doll sales A number of sex doll companies feel your pain and are offering discounted products to help you get through all this time by yourself.
Bellesa is currently giving away thousands of their own vibrators, as well as ones by Womanizer, and all of its products are 20 percent off with free priority shipping. A number of other toys are currently on sale, including Ella Paradis’s G-Spot Hero and Kiki de Montparnasse’s entire selection.
11. Use Long-Distance Toys With some high-tech toys, you and your partner can actually pleasure each other from a distance. We-Vibe’s We-Connect app connects to its toys so that a partner can control them remotely, and KIIROO's Onyx2 & Pearl2 Couple Set connect to each other, allowing for two-way interactive long-distance sex.
You may be physically apart, but with the right attitude, you can take advantage of the limits on your connections to connect in whole new ways.

Sex robot company assures people dolls are anti-bacterial amid coronavirus pandemic

Your pastor might think it’s dirty, but these dolls are clean.

A sex robot company assured people that its dolls are anti-bacterial in a not-really-safe-for-work Instagram post Thursday amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“Self isolating doesn’t have to be the worst!” Abyss, the company behind RealDoll, wrote. “All Real Dolls are made from Platinum Grade Silicone and are naturally antibacterial and nonporous!”

The ad was clearly targeted at the many people who may be feeling lonely during social distancing and quarantine as the world combats COVID-19. Abyss included a link to purchase its product in the post.

New York and California were among the states telling people to stay at home in an attempt to stop the spread of the virus.

Worldwide, more than 275,000 people have been infected with the coronavirus, with the majority of the cases now coming outside of China, where the virus originated. Nearly 11,500 people have died from COVID-19 as of Friday night, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins.

‘Naturally antibacterial:’ Sex doll companies trying to cash in on coronavirus

Sex doll companies have an important public service message: Self-isolating can be fun and safe at the same time.
Abyss, the maker of sex robots RealDolls, assured potential buyers that its dolls are free of COVID-19 in an Instagram post.
“Self-isolating doesn’t have to be the worst! All RealDolls are made from Platinum Grade Silicone and are naturally antibacterial and nonporous! Want one?” The company’s caption reads.
An online publication that reviews sex dolls also posted a blog post trying to combat myths regarding sex dolls and the coronavirus.
“Sex doll industries have been greatly affected as most of these products were made and delivered
“But to break the existing perception toward China-made sex dolls, is there really a high-risk of product-to-human viral transmission? One firm answer: No!” the post continues. “There is no medical proof that upholds this claim. Sex dolls assembled or imported from China have no harm to the people.”
Sex doll maker Silicon Wives has also tried capitalizing on the pandemic, with a giveaway contest for free sex dolls “to help with the coronavirus quarantine,” according to its website.
“Are you stuck inside with nothing to do for the Coronavirus (sic) quarantine? We’re giving away free sex dolls to ease your ‘social distancing,’” the website reads.
Local municipal and state governments across the country have started creating and enforcing strict rules to keep residents inside in order to “flatten the curve” and slow the spread of the pandemic — which has now infected more than 300,000 people globally.
In September, The Post reported that sales of male sex dolls were already on the rise.

There's a sex doll shortage in the US and UK thanks to the coronavirus pandemic

The US and the UK are facing shortages of sex dolls amid a surge in demand and the coronavirus pandemic is to blame.

The coronavirus outbreak has forced countries into lockdown with companies shutting down factories and asking employees to work from home in a desperate attempt to curb the spread of COVID-19. The pandemic also seems to have affected the sex doll industry in the US and UK as they're facing a shortage of the X-rated dolls that are shipped in from Chinese factories.

Sex doll shortage in the US, UK

Jade Stanley, who owns a sex doll business called Sex Doll Official, revealed that there has been a major slowdown due to the ongoing Coronavirus situation in China. "They've gone home, been quarantined and been unable to return to factories," she told The Sun. Jade's business went live in 2018 and became the UK's first to offer sex dolls on rent. However, she is now facing a shortage of supply due to manufacturing disruptions across China.

The deadly virus, which originated from the Chinese city of Wuhan, has claimed 3,100 lives in mainland China and infected more than 81,000 people across the nation. This has led to factory shutdowns in the world's second largest economy and the shockwaves are being felt across the world.

Surge in orders for sex dolls, adult toys

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, countries are imposing lockdowns, causing people to isolate themselves and stay indoors in order to avoid getting infected. This has led to an increase in orders for her sex dolls, reveals Jade.

"People who buy these products are often people who can't - or don't want to -go out a lot," she said. "That's especially so with coronavirus....we are having an awful lot of phone calls."

The pandemic has also led to a worldwide increase in sales of sex toys, as previously reported. Adult toy manufacturer Womanizer, says it experienced "well above average" sales between January 1 and March 6, mostly in areas that have been largely affected by the coronavirus.

"Many people and businesses are affected negatively by the virus and we saw it as a challenge for us as well," the company's spokeswoman Johanna Rief said in a statement to CNN. "The numbers are therefore surprising."

"With the prospect of long periods at home either alone or with your partner, people are exploring new ways to make the best of the time available," she added.

Sex-doll news roundup: coronavirus edition; plus a guy who wants to marry his doll, but only after she gets work done

No, the "sex-doll news roundup" isn't going to be a regular thing. It's just that sometimes you fall down a weird-news rabbit hole like I did today.

First, from RealDoll, the U.S.-based maker of high-end virtual sex partners, comes a claim that, in these pandemic times in which we live, their products are perfectly safe. Just in case you had any doubts. The company (which is also known as Abyss, presumably a reference to the Uncanny Valley in which its dolls reside) posted the following to Instagram:

"Self isolating doesn’t have to be the worst! All RealDolls are made from Platinum Grade Silicone and are naturally antibacterial and nonporous!"

That's right: antibacterial. It's unclear whether or not this claim has been independently verified.

In semi-related news, a U.K.-based company is blaming the coronavirus for a shortage of sex dolls in the country. Jade Stanley, who operates Sex Doll Official, told the Sun Online that factory workers in China, where her dolls are manufactured, took off for Chinese New Year but were then quarantined when the virus hit and never returned to work.

The same article notes that Stanley, who hails from Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, "launched her business in 2018 and last year it became the UK's first to offer a rental service"—which has me really, really hoping that these things are indeed antibacterial.

Yuri Tolochko is no renter. No sir, the Kazakhstan-based bodybuilder owns his sex doll. And ownership clearly has its privileges, as Tolochko has announced his intention to marry his latex ladyfriend, which he calls "Margo".

Folks, I couldn't make this stuff up (although I fully acknowledge that someone might have). Thanks to the U.K.'s Daily Star, which is surely a reputable news source and not a sleazy tabloid, the Kazakh muscleman actually popped the question back in December, but today he officially set the wedding date: March 27. According to the Star, Tolochko said there was significance to that particular day: “It was very important for me that the party took place on that date, World Theatre Day, and my baby supported me on this.”

While that tidbit—and the fact that Tolochko is an actor—would seem to lend credence to the notion that this is some sort of performance piece or publicity stunt, we'll take the word of the Star that this is all very real. Or at least as real as a marriage between a man and an inanimate object could ever be.

According to Tolochko, Margo recently underwent cosmetic procedures to address insecurities about her appearance: "When I presented her photo to the world, there was a lot of criticism and she began to develop a complex so we decided to have plastic surgery. She has changed a lot. At first, it was hard to accept but I got used to it later on. It was at a real clinic with real doctors."

See? It's all real!

Naughty Harbor in the Czech Republic has a selection of three love dolls that customers romp with while wearing virtual reality headsets.

A smutty clip of the visitor's favourite porn star plays through the headset during the action, reports SexTechGuide.

Naughty Harbor describes the experience as "fantasies with no boundaries".

"You open the door, she is waiting in the room. A genuine beauty from high-quality silicone," the filthy firm writes on its website.

"This one offers way more than standard dolls. And she is only here for you."

3The Naughty Harbor website leaves little to the imagination

Naughty Harbor opened late last year in a "trendy studio" in central Prague.

Pricing depends on what you want: An hour for the full shebang (that's a doll plus a VR headset) costs just under £40.

For a two-hour love session, punters have to fork out £96.

Customers can also try their hand at a VR adult gaming experience.

That means rather than watch a video, you play a character in a video game tasked with all manner of sordid tasks.

The news might excite silicon smut fans, but the rise of sex dolls has some people worried.

Last year, psychology experts warned that sex robots could fuel a rise in sex addiction.

Dr Birchard, who serves as the clinical director of the Marylebone Centre for Psychological Therapies, told the Daily Star they serve the same purpose as alcohol for people with drinking problems.

What is VR? Virtual reality explained

Here's what you need to know about the revolutionary tech...
Virtual reality allows you to experience and interact with a 3D world that isn't real.
To enter this virtual world you must don a VR helmet – a headset with a screen inside that makes you feel like you're somewhere else.
This mounted display strapped to your eyes mixed with stereo sound and movement tracking lets you explore this immersive virtual world.
You turn your head and the environemnt turns with you, making the illusion feel even more "real".
Currently headsets span from expensive PC-linked helmets like the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift to more affordable goggles like the Samsung Gear VR that works by slotting a smartphone in the headset.
The downloadable apps range from VR games to 360-degree videos created by publishers like the BBC and The Discovery Channel.
They can transport you to 3D worlds that aren't accessible in real life, like a trip to Mars or a spin behind the wheel of a futuristic sports car.
Until recently, these experiences relied on a PC or smartphone to generate this virtual world.
But there are alternatives– like the Oculus Go, a wireless headset with a built-in processor that does all the work itself.

"It would just be another way of expressing sexual activity or addiction," he explained.

"Sex addiction is a way to anaesthetise hard to bear feeling states...These include, but are not limited to, loneliness, shame, boredom, and stress."

And experts recently expressed concern that the rising popularity of sex robots risked turning Japanese people into "an endangered species".

The warning came after a study linked rising sex doll ownership to declining birth rates in certain areas of Japan.

The Sun recently exposed a creepy sex robot swapping forum where owners trade their "bruised, battered dolls" with each other.

In September 2018, The Sun exclusively revealed how one sex-bot collector had spent $200,000 on love dolls – which he kept in a cupboard.

Sex robots are proving big business – with top models discounted as part of Black Friday sales.
