Hot Sex dolls brought to life in startling images including Marilyn Monroe and Lady Gaga-inspired models

An author used realistic photos of Hot sex dolls in an effort to 'reclaim ownership of the female body'.

Grace Banks has used pictures of blow-up dolls based on celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe to Lady Gaga in her new book called Play With Me, which features a sex-doll version of Girl With A Pearl Earring on the cover.

Another picture was taken underwater with a life-like doll in a red dress staring into the lens.

Further photographs depict the realistic images of sex dolls either lying in a double bed or two female sex dolls lying next to each other on a double bed.

Other pictures show a doll that resembles quirky singer/songwriter Lady Gaga, who will be starring in the new movie A Star Is Born alongside actor Bradley Cooper.

Author Grace Banks said: "This book looks at the ownership of the female nude in today's current political, economic and social climate, as well as how, through sex dolls, mannequins, CGI, nude neon reliefs and other appropriations of the female form.

"Artists are reclaiming the ownership of the female body from the pervasive male-defined tropes and spaces for the female body in contemporary art.

"The female nude is one of the most contentious topics of our post-internet age. In the spring of 2016, Kim Kardashian West Instagrammed a photograph of herself naked with two black stripes censoring her body.

"Within a few seconds, the image generated 1.7 million likes, over 336,000 comments, thousands of shares across social media, and the world, from celebrities to fans, went crazy."

Some of the first sex dolls were invented by Dutch sailors in the 17th century who needed company while isolated at sea during long journeys.

With the book, first published in 2017, Grace wanted to highlight the trend for objects often used for female objectification such as sex dolls, neon strip signs and mannequins.

The marketing for sex dolls has increased in the USA around 1992; the last 20 years have seen the development of the dolls to look more realistic and this has been evident through the internet.

The method of retail purchase has improved which has contributed to its market growth to being worth over an estimated £15.5 billion ($20 billion) worldwide and is expected to rise over £23.3 billion ($30 billion) by 2020.

Grace added: "The political activism is what I wanted to highlight in these works, so I've organized the chapters into some of the most pressing problems for women today the commodification of women's bodies, the bias for women's bodies created by men in art, the changing nature of gender binaries and what will happen to the female body in the future."

The dolls, which cost up to €2,000 (£1,800) each, are thoroughly washed for two hours after use.

Customers choose their doll's outfit - with options including fitness and secretary - and specify which position they want to find them in.

'The positions they can take are many, almost all the ones in the Kamasutra,' the brothel says.

The Psalmist and the Sex Doll

Article source: The Psalmist and the Sex Doll

As our civilization lost its understanding of sacramental marriage, we have dreamt up new ways to be alone.

You can love something before you understand it. You can love something and never understand it: I get Shakespeare and David Foster Wallace and Walt Whitman (and the Clash and Henry Rollins) but I am not entirely sure why the music of Bach works the way it does, or where Moby-Dick’s power comes from, or what it is in Caravaggio’s paintings (I’m pretty sure it is not actually Catholic piety) that makes them so seductive.

Like a great many people, I have long loved the songwriting of the late Leonard Cohen. It took me a long time to figure out what was so appealing about it. His most famous song, “Hallelujah,” is only one E7 chord past a four-chord song, barely more musically sophisticated than “Earth Angel” or “Stand By Me.” (It is, in fact, musically very close to the Misfits’ punk classic “Astro Zombies.”) Cohen, like Walt Whitman, was a terrible editor of his own work: You’ve probably heard “Hallelujah” 10,000 times, but never the whole thing: There are about 80 verses; to the extent that there is a canonical version of the song, it is either John Cale’s recording or something close to it. As a lyricist, Cohen usually was more clever than profound: The first verse of “Hallelujah” is written around a cute musical in-joke in which the lyrics (“It goes like this: the fourth, the fifth, the minor fall, the major lift”) describe the chord progression.

And there is, of course, the fact that Cohen, great soul, and gift though he was, really could not sing. But he had character enough to overcome that deficit, casting himself as a searcher at once hard-boiled and hopeful:

Even though it all went wrong,
I’ll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but hallelujah.

It occurred to me later that what Leonard Cohen really was, at heart, a psalmist. That probably would have been obvious to someone with a better religious education than I have, given that he more or less announces the fact in his one unavoidable contribution to the American songbook, in which he adopts the persona of the most famous psalmist: “They say that there’s a secret chord that David played and it pleased the Lord.” There is a long Jewish tradition (and an ancient, yet considerably less ancient, Christian tradition) of using what may look on the surface like a love song as the basis of a hymn. In the Islamic world, qawwali music works much the same way. On the face of it, a lot of qawwali songs are the South Asian equivalent of country music: a lot of alcohol-soaked lamentation about lost love. But to the initiated, it is devotional music.

Romantic love and the longing for God are closely intertwined in our music and literature, in our theology, and, beneath all that, in our souls. Whatever the real cause of the Trojan War was, the legend that it was the king’s love of his wife, Helen — “Was this the face that launched a thousand ships / And burnt the topless towers of Ilium?” as Christopher Marlowe famously put it — is the story we know, because it is a story we knew before we knew it. Religious differences have launched a few ships, too. In the Catholic tradition, the identification of the marital relationship with the divine is deeply imprinted on the rhetoric and literature, but also on the ethics and morality they support. If the relationship between God and Church is the model of the relationship between husband and wife — if each is in some way a version of the other — then that changes things, fundamentally. “Irreconcilable differences” might very well describe the states of the condition of the souls of the lost, if you believe in that sort of thing.

The cynic might argue that marital love and divine longing are mixed up in our minds because each speaks in its way to the terror of being alone in this vast and indifferent world. That has a way of sneaking itself into music, too: They Might Be Giants had a hit with “Ana Ng,” a song in their usual chippy style. But it is in fact one of the darkest songs I can think of. If it were a film, it would be in black-and-white, pure noir: A man sits alone at a desk with a gun in his hand, brooding — not over a love that has been lost, but over a love that has never been found, worrying that he and the one meant for him will get old and die before they finally find one another. He is ready to take desperate measures. That is a depth of aloneness (which is not quite the same thing as loneliness) that might, in an earlier time, have driven a man to church, or at least to scripture:

On my bed by night
I sought him whom my soul loves;
I sought him but found him not.

The fact of separation is fundamental to Cohen’s music. And that sometimes renders his psalmistry more obvious. “Coming Back to You” is one example:

I’ve got to have your word on this
Or none of it is true
And all I’ve said was just instead of
Coming back to you.

The Catholic tradition (and much of the broader Christian tradition) holds that within sacramental marriage, a man and a woman encounter their authentic natures in the act of procreation, through which they participate in God’s creative work. (Genesis is a book that does not really have an ending.) That, incidentally, is the Christian case against same-sex marriage: not the desire to deny same-sex couples legal rights or the ability to arrange their lives as they see fit, or even resistance to extending social recognition of arrangements that are considered immoral — not that, but the belief that marriage between two members of the same sex is, irrespective of what laws we may pass or what social norms we may adopt, something that simply does not exist. From that point of view, whatever sense of liberal toleration or genuine love and friendship we may have for gay people is entirely beside the point on the question of marriage.

Top 15 best-selling sex dolls according to users reviews

We social conservatives have spent a big part of the past two decades talking about homosexuality and its role in public life, particular when it comes to marriage. That isn’t an entirely unimportant question but, in the context of what has happened to marriage since the 1960s and the overall state of our sexual culture, it is a relatively trivial one. It seems to me that very often talking about homosexuality has mainly been a way of not talking about other things that need talking about.

The things that have gone along with our retreat from what historically would have been understood as marriage into what we have now — that tepid and deformed legal construct that pretends to be a substitute for the real thing — are not the cause of that separation. They are only correlates. It was not the invention of the birth-control pill, or the adoption of no-fault divorce, that hollowed out marriage: It was that we became the sort of people who desired those things. We became — Western civilization became — the kids who flunked the test in the famous Stanford marshmallow experiment, unable to resist immediate gratification and, having stripped ourselves of the cultural basis for understanding the distinction, unable to tell the difference between pleasure and happiness.

Hence the sex dolls.

Toronto soon will be home to North America’s first (known) sex-doll brothel, offering “sexual services with the world’s most beautiful silicone ladies.” (The brothel’s claim to being first is disputed by people who are maybe a little prouder of being in the doll-pimping business than one might expect.) In Europe, where there are legal brothels, some have begun offering sessions with sex dolls as an alternative to sex with a living human prostitute.

Inevitably, there are questions about how to regulate such things. The most charged questions at the moment involve the sale of sex dolls designed to look like children. The British have convicted and imprisoned a man attempting to import such a sex doll, charging him with the importation of child pornography. Others face similar charges, and more than 100 sex dolls have been seized in the United Kingdom by the Border Force. The dolls are not illegal in the United States, though there is an effort underway to prohibit them. Online retailers such as eBay prohibit listing them for sale.

The debate calls to mind the related question of regulating” virtual” child pornography that does not involve actual children, being rendered by computer. (A federal law prohibiting virtual child pornography was gutted by the Supreme Court in 2002 and returned as the PROTECT Act of 2003.) The libertarian case against such regulation is fairly straightforward: We prohibit child pornography because we prohibit the sexual abuse of children, but virtual pornography does not entail the abuse of children or any contact with children at all. Getting into the business of criminalizing fantasies, however repulsive, is dangerous and unwarranted. It is conceivable that such material could encourage pedophiliac fantasies that might be later acted out in real life, but if we go prohibiting things because they might — might — inspire some person to commit an actual crime, there will be no end of it. The same case has, for instance, often been made against rap music exploring violent themes. If I myself were sitting on a jury in a domestic-violence case and the accused pleaded, “Eminem made me do it,” I would be skeptical. I would be skeptical of similar claims about Lolita, or, indeed, about childlike sex dolls.

But the regulatory question here seems to me secondary.

The sterility of the act in question is not merely biological. Regulation of that act is not entirely beside the point, but it is not really the point itself, either. Imagine, if you can — with charity, if you can — the state of a man in a silicon brothel paying to have sex (a simulacrum of sex) with an inanimate object. The act indicates a profound alienation not only from ordinary healthy sexual expression but from humanity. And from something more than that. If you want an image of a man alone in the universe, bereft, then there it is.

The Marquis de Sade thought that the old order might be overthrown by a great orgy of dissolution and blasphemy, an organized assault on every accepted value until the achievement of a state of absolute freedom. De Sade and those who follow him hated and hate what marriage was, because they hated and hate the order founded on it. (Even now, what is left of it.) But they genuinely appreciated its power, and believed that if it were to go down, it would go down in flames. He would have been disappointed by the smallness and banality of where we ended up, even if it is more perverse (though generally less violent) than his fantasies, which were almost exclusively limited to the traditional, transgressions and violations sufficiently longstanding to have Old Testament injunctions against them. De Sade dreamt up theatrical acts of depravity, while we have only dreamt up new ways to be alone.

From the psalmist who discerned in the love of husbands and wives an indication of God’s design to the question of which kind of silicone sex dolls might be unallowable in the marketplace — that is the arc of our history, and of our sorrow.

Toronto Closes First-Ever Sex Doll Brothel Week Before Opening Day

Article Source: Toronto Closes First-Ever Sex Doll Brothel Week Before Opening Day

Toronto has shut down what was going to be the first-ever sex doll brothel in North America just a week before it was slated to open.
Because of a decades-old bylaw, city officials in the North York region of Canada's most-populous city said this week that the Aura Dolls brothel would be illegal because it falls under the category of "adult entertainment parlor" and is therefore not allowed in the neighborhood in which it had planned to set up shop, Toronto's CityNews reports.
Councilman John Fillion said in a letter to residents obtained by the news outlet that he met with city staff to see if the doll brothel was legal in that location following a barrage of complaints he had received from his ward. The city's declaration that the shop was indeed illegal was based on a motion Fillion made approximately 20 years ago restricting sex retail shops to industrial areas.
"Both the business owner and property owner were advised by city staff that the proposed use is illegal and that, if the business opened, they would be charged," Fillion said in the letter to residents.

"As a result, I am pleased to advise you that city staff were told that the lease has been canceled."
He tweeted Thursday, noting the backlash from local residents: "Thanks to all who spoke up for our community. I received many emails, and 1 from a young female student concerned about the objectification of women wrote that such businesses 'wrongly educate men that women are plastic dolls, rather than human beings who exist for male pleasure.'"
Meghan Murphy, the editor of the Canadian website Feminist Current, concurs. Murphy weighed in on the controversy Thursday, noting in an interview with CBC radio that doll brothels are similar to actual brothels in terms of the destructive messages they send to men about women, particularly that it turns them into objects.
"The reason that men go to prostitutes is that they want to be in a position of dominance and because they don't want to have to care about the person on the other end of the exchange," Murphy said.
And such is the reasoning why men visit a sex doll brothel, she added.
"He doesn't want to have to feel empathy toward someone else ... he doesn't want to think about what she needs. He doesn't want to think about if he's hurting her or not."
According to the Toronto Sun, an hour with one of the dolls at Aura Dolls costs $120, and double that for two dolls. The shop had planned to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Aura Dolls said earlier this week that they had a license with the city, a claim city officials denied.
Yet another company a few miles away, Kinky S Dolls, which opened in May of last year, maintains it's actually the first "adult love dolls brothel in North America."
The owner reportedly has approximately 500 male clients and the shop has a business license and is run like a sex retail store. Clients have the option of renting the dolls first before buying them.
Many robotic sex dolls are made by companies in China and Japan, but some are now being manufactured in western nations, such as the United States.
Earlier this summer, as The Christian Post reported, the U.S. House passed by voice vote a bill barring the importation and sale of such dolls that resemble children. Sponsors of the legislation said that using them is a short step away from and will normalize committing sexual abuse on children.

The freakiest brothel to a college that demands girlfriends, a round-up of the freakiest news yet.

A sex doll brothel

What do you call a sex doll brothel — sex, doll, and dhoka? A controversial brothel in Toronto that promised to offer people the chance to have sex with realistic-looking dolls has been shut down before it opened after the city determined the operation would violate a bylaw. 'Aura Dolls' was slated to open September 8.

Screengrab from Aura Dolls website.

On its website, Aura Dolls state an hour with one doll will set you back $120. Double that with two dolls. There are six dolls to choose from and they can be used in various positions.

“The dolls are thoroughly sanitized to meet your expectations. We take extreme measures when it comes to the safety of our clients... The use of condoms is highly recommended,” according to the website.

Kiss of life

A first date that ends with a kiss? Well, some fear it might make you look too desperate, others advise you to wait — but some simply don't have any choice but to go ahead and seal the deal. An American doctor, Andi Traynor, 45, "kissed" her partner Max Montgomery, 56, on their very first date as she had to perform life-saving CPR on him after he collapsed during their date on a California beach.

She immediately performed life-saving CPR. Within minutes, Max was taken off the beach and revived, using a defibrillator.

The incident which happened last October was reported by The Daily Mail on August 29, revealing a heart-warming after-story.

Montgomery underwent a coronary bypass surgery the next day. He also told Traynor that he would understand if she didn’t want to keep seeing him. “But she told me she was not going anywhere,” he said, according to The Daily Mail.

The good news is, they are still going strong.

The same report quoted Traynor as saying: "A few weeks after his surgery, he was recuperating and we were on the beach just talking. 'I said, 'You can kiss me for real now.'"

Montgomery said: "My heart has been healed inside and out. I feel very blessed."

Awww.

Compulsory classes, not really

"Any student found without a boyfriend or girlfriend will face penal action. Start making suitable arrangements. If caught without a boyfriend or girlfriend inside the college after the given date, you shall be fined. Mind you, each student is allowed only one boyfriend or girlfriend. Abide by this rule or be suspended and pay a fine of Rs 1,000.”

According to a news report, this was a notice that sent waves of laughter across Chandigarh University recently. However, the management didn’t find it funny. The prankster has been rusticated.

The 'notice' came up on the notice board and the social media reportedly written on an official letterhead gave the announcement a "stamp of authority". The prankster was a first-year student of computer science engineering and information security.

Sex Dolls May Be 'Emotionally Divisive' But Business Is Booming

Toronto might not be getting a "brothel" anytime soon, but sex dolls aren't going away.

Would sex dolls in a "brothel" have more agency than human sex workers?

We truly live in a dystopia, because you can now file this story under old news: Toronto is not, in fact, getting a new "sex doll brothel."

Aura Dolls' plan to open such a facility in the city's North York area next month predictably brought a serious backlash, and it was shut down over a licensing issue.

Top 15 best-selling sex dolls according to users reviews

"If there is any good place for people to pay to have sex with plastic dolls — and I'm not sure there is — it is certainly not here," city councilor John Filion said in a statement to HuffPost Canada. "Among other things, this business literally objectifies women and sends a very unhealthy message, to young men in particular."

Even though patrons won't be able to pay $120/hour with one of the Aura dolls (or $240/hour with two of them), the sex doll industry isn't going away anytime soon. Such items come in both standard and fetish iterations, at price points ranging from "entry-level" (in the $500-$1,000 range) to "luxury high-end" (up to $10,000).

It's normal for many to have a knee-jerk reaction of disgust at a plastic doll built like a human that someone buys to have sex with, says Dr. Philip Jai Johnson, a psychologist, and researcher at the Toronto Sexuality Centre.

Premium Sex Dolls – A Simulated yet Realistic Love Experience

He attributes this in part to the "uncanny valley," an effect where something becomes disturbing when it approaches human likeness, but falls slightly short. "On some level, it is kind of a moral view, which is just the sense that anything that deviates from the real thing is not appropriate."

Michelle Shnaidman, CEO of feminist sex and porn platform Bellesa, says that using a sex doll isn't wildly different from using other devices.

"Eradicating the shame around people using — or even requiring — sex toys to find sexual satisfaction is an ongoing battle," she says. "Their humanoid resemblance gives us — non-sex doll users — pause. But just because these dolls have a face doesn't make them any more threatening than the vibrators in our nightstands."

VINCENT KESSLER / REUTERSAn employee at the Dreamdoll company displays a pair of ears at their workshop near Strasbourg on Dec. 2, 2014.

"Niche" sex toys, a group with sex dolls at the forefront, is a nearly $20-billion industry, according to Forbes. And analysts have forecast that the global sex toy market will grow nearly seven percent between 2016 and 2020.

Johnson says there's been very little academic research on sex dolls, probably because they are so "emotionally divisive." Based on the small amount of research that's out there, he says the demographic most likely to seek out sex dolls are single men in the 30-40 range.
Lonely stereotype

There's a stereotype that such dolls exist solely for lonely and desperate men, but one of the few studies that did examine people who used sex robots — which are slightly higher on the uncanny valley scale than dolls — found that wasn't true. It suggested that fear and rejection were, in fact, the biggest motivators.

Johnson would like to see more academic research on the use of sex dolls because he does think that in some rare cases, there's a possibility they could be a safe, stress-free way for certain men to work out sexual dysfunction issues.

"For men with sexual functioning difficulty, they do go on dates, and if they can't perform, they will get rejected very often. It does put some men in a catch-22 position. And for that reason, I think sex dolls could be — and I don't want to say for sure, but they could be a good treatment approach."

ALY SONG / REUTERSVarious doll heads covered with dust bags are seen on shelves at the WMDOLL factory in Guangdong, China on July 11, 2018.

Others have suggested that sex dolls could provide an outlet for men with violent sexual desires to keep them from taking that anger out on real women. A representative from Aura Dolls allegedly told Vice that the use of sex dolls may have prevented the Toronto van attack, which killed 10 people and injured 16 others in April.

The suspect, Alek Minassian, is believed to have been part of the "incel" online community of men who react with hostility and violence to women who won't have sex with them.

No research backs up the claim that sex with a doll can prevent "incel" violence, an idea women's rights advocate Julie Lalonde called "dangerous." In fact, many people — Johnson included — say that just as there are a theoretical risk sex dolls may help some men, there's also the possibility that they could feed into unhealthy attitudes towards women and sex.

The discussion is not a new one. Trottla, a Japanese company, has been marketing child sex dolls as a "safe" way for pedophiles to fulfill their urges since the early 2000s. In 2016, The Atlantic profiled the company's founder Shin Takagi, who self-identifies as someone with pedophilic impulses he has never acted on.

Takagi said the dolls help people like him — although many psychologists expressed reservations. A strategy that could help some pedophiles control their desires might exacerbate them in others, said Michael Seto, a University of Toronto psychiatrist who examines pedophilia. For some, "having these substitutes might only aggravate their sense of frustration," he told the magazine.
Dolls obviously cannot consent, but the person using them is also not learning about consent. Lyba Spring, sex educator

Sex educator Lyba Spring says she fears a dependence on sex dolls could make it harder for someone to develop a relationship with a real person — someone who voices opinions, and whose body isn't built for male fantasy.

"In the same way that there are adolescent and young adult men who complain that their use of pornography has made it increasingly difficult for them to have sexual and intimate relationships with women, I think that the use of these dolls may continue to prevent men with intimacy issues from learning how to be intimate," she says.

She also worries that younger men who get used to sex with dolls are not factoring consent into the equation, which can potentially be dangerous later on.

"Dolls obviously cannot consent, but the person using them is also not learning about consent," she told HuffPost Canada.

ALBERT GEA / REUTERSCatalan nanotechnology engineer Sergi Santos holds the head of Samantha, a sex doll packed with artificial intelligence, on March 31, 2017, in Barcelona.

Operating a "brothel" could also be problematic: sex dolls would have more agency than human sex workers. "I find it irritating to use the word 'brothel' given the human context of our current laws, which continue to put sex workers at risk," Spring says.

Terri-Jean Bedford, a professional dominatrix who has been instrumental in challenging the Canadian government's stance on sex work, says prostitution laws enacted under Stephen Harper in 2014 didn't give much more consideration to real sex workers than is given to the dolls.

"Even living women, under his law, could not be paid for sex," she said in an email to HuffPost Canada. "The dolls probably meant more to him."

Johnson hopes to see more research on sex dolls happen soon. "Some of the questions I certainly would be interested in seeing are: How do sex dolls influence the attitudes of people who use them, be they attitudes towards women, towards sex, towards themselves?" he says. "We don't have the answers we need."

Sex doll brothel won’t open in planned North York location, after all

A sex doll brothel will not be opening its doors at a planned Yonge St. and Sheppard Ave. W. location, a city spokesperson has confirmed, saying it was informed the brothel’s lease agreement with the property has been terminated.

“City staff investigated the premises for Aura Dolls for possible contraventions of the zoning and licensing bylaws,” said communications ccoordinatorAngelica Santos in an email. “Subsequently, the city was notified by the property manager advising that the lease agreement with Aura Dolls has been terminated.”

In an earlier email, Santos said the city determined Aura Dolls falls under the category of an “adult entertainment parlor,” and “the permitted land uses for the property at 4632 Yonge St., (do) not include an adult entertainment use, therefore the use at this location is not permitted.”

Aura Dolls, the company behind the sex doll brothel that was initially set to open in early September, could not be reached for comment.

On its website, a map still pinpoints their location at the intersection of Yonge and Sheppard, but states the address is given “upon booking.”

On Friday, Councillor John Filion, Ward 23, said the situation “shouldn’t have happened.”

“It’s just one of those problems you deal with during the course of a week that you wish didn’t exist in the first place,” Filion said.

He said Yonge and Sheppard's residents are relieved by the news. “They were upset, they were really bothered by what’s going on on the edge of their neighborhood.”
