Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, on Thursday, April 3, expressed regret over "not liquidating" her retirement fund to invest in a sex doll manufacturing company amid a time when such dolls are in high demand during the coronavirus crisis.
Nessel took to Twitter, writing: "Am I the only one who regrets not totally liquidating my 401K and investing the whole thing into the business that manufactures Real Dolls?"
Nessel, in 2018, became the first openly gay attorney general of Michigan.
At a time when multiple countries across the world have announced lockdowns or issued self-isolation guidance in an effort to curb the coronavirus spread, sex doll companies are selling their products advertising them as something fun to do when alone at home.
Abyss, the maker of sex robots RealDolls, in an Instagram post last month assured its potential buyers that its dolls are free of COVID-19. The company's caption read: "Self-isolating doesn’t have to be the worst! All RealDolls are made from Platinum Grade Silicone and are naturally antibacterial and nonporous! Want one?"
The Real Dolls website talked about its product, stating: "Since 1996, we have been using Hollywood special effects technology to produce the most realistic love doll in the world."Silicon sex dolls for sexual encounters sitting at the "Bordoll" brothel on April 17, 2019, n Dortmund, Germany. The website for another sex doll company Silicon Wives read: "Are you stuck inside with nothing to do for the Coronavirus [sic] quarantine? We’re giving away free sex dolls to ease your ‘social distancing,'" the New York Post reported.
An online publication that reviews sex dolls recently posted a blog post attempting to combat myths regarding sex dolls and the coronavirus pandemic. The post at realsexdollreviews.com stated: "Sex doll industries have been greatly affected as most of these products were made and delivered from China. But to break the existing perception toward China-made sex dolls, is there really a high-risk of product-to-human viral transmission? One firm answer: No!” the post continues. “There is no medical proof that upholds this claim. Sex dolls assembled or imported from China have no harm to the people.”
The deadly novel coronavirus in the United States has infected nearly 280,000 people with a confirmed death toll of 7,100 and rising. According to the Johns Hopkins University tracker, the US recorded nearly 1,500 deaths from COVID-19 between Thursday, April 2, and Friday, April 3. The number is the worst 24-hour death toll globally since the pandemic began. The nation's two main hot spots of the deadly virus reported their biggest jumps on April 3, with the number of deaths in New York state alone comparable to the fatalities of the 9/11 attacks.
New York City, which has been branded as the country's coronavirus epicenter, has just a few days to prepare for the worst of the novel coronavirus outbreak in the area, its Mayor Bill de Blasio warned as he sought for urgent protective medical equipment for healthcare workers from the White House.
Meanwhile, the coronavirus infections across the world have crossed 1 million with over 60,000 confirmed deaths and rising. There is no official cure or vaccine for COVID-19 available in the world market yet.
